CATR: A lot of patients struggling with addiction have a history of head trauma. How would I go about knowing whether the person had an actual traumatic brain injury (TBI)? Dr. Corrigan: The only way to know is to ask in a systematic way. You can’t count on behavioral manifestations or on seeing a scar on the head. It might be a quite remote injury;
